About Shilahara
Shilahara Heritage Services is a Mumbai based company which works on historical research projects and organises cultural programs. Founded by Art Historian and Author, Sandeep Dahisarkar on 13th May 2020, Shilahara Heritage Services focuses on Archaeology, History, Sanskrit and Marathi related aspects of research with an aim to promote Indian Culture.
We bring together scholarship, creativity and community engagement to create meaningful connections with India’s rich past. Our work seeks to make heritage accessible, relevant and engaging for people of different age groups and backgrounds.
We undertake detailed documentation and interpretation of historical and cultural resources. Our approach combines traditional knowledge with contemporary methods of research and presentation. We work towards creating a deeper understanding of monuments, inscriptions, manuscripts, traditions and historical personalities.
Through curated lectures, heritage walks, seminars and cultural initiatives, we encourage people to engage with the past. Our programs provide opportunities to discover the stories, traditions and knowledge systems that have shaped Indian society. We believe that historical knowledge becomes more valuable when it is shared beyond academic circles.
Special emphasis is placed on preserving regional narratives and bringing lesser-known aspects of history into public awareness. We encourage the study of original sources and evidence to develop a balanced understanding of the past. Our initiatives aim to connect academic research with public learning and cultural participation.
We collaborate with researchers, scholars, artists, institutions and cultural enthusiasts on projects of shared interest. Each project is approached with attention to authenticity, context and responsible interpretation. We strive to present complex historical subjects in an accessible and engaging manner. Our cultural programs provide a platform for meaningful conversations around heritage and identity.
